take a breath, begin:
it's Monday morning, and I
will not resent it
the communal ritual
of taking pride in ourselves
in finding the good
in the week before is a
booster shot of grace

Mondays, every week, let's celebrate ourselves, to start the week right. Tell me what you're proud of. Tell me what you accomplished last week, something -- at least one thing -- that you can turn around and point at and say: I did this. Me. It was tough, but I did it, and I did it well, and I am proud of it, and it makes me feel good to see what I accomplished. Could be anything -- something you made, something you did, something you got through. Just take a minute and celebrate yourself. Either here, or in your journal, but somewhere.

grimaces hidden
a meeting after absence
travelling across the globe
"how nice to see you"
we hug, smile, pose and pretend
blood is the thickest

i sit determined
staring into the mirror
at war with myself
a helper sits alongside
with words of encouragement
fight the urge to blink
approach slowly and calmly
my contacts are in!

so long I sometimes forget
to take them off to
shower; water outside and
in: what a start to the day!
seeing clearly is
sometimes harder than being
clueless at such times
undercurrents of 'should be'
straining the limited is
joy to your courage
in surviving tough greetings
and placing contacts
and thank you for sharing here
your stories motivating

their words are empty
sluggish like the ending dregs
of the last cup of coffee
emptying my mind
of worries and to-do-lists
they say I'll find peace
peaceful, a silted river
runs more slowly than rapids
need rapidity
deadline is tonight
I can't see the end

that and forge ahead
well, that's why I tell myself
we will see how well it goes
good luck 'rapidly'
tear down that wall; dance on it
who cares what they say?

advice given in
exactly the wrong places:
the speedy advised
to hasten and the hindered
to retard their hastening
